Stoa offers guided audio, readings and a daily philosophy practice. This page describes the accessibility features we list for the Stoa app on iPhone and iPad, how to use them, and the limitations we know about. We review it for each release across common tasks: getting started, signing in, purchases, practice, playback, downloads and settings.

Supported features on iPhone
Stoa's App Store listing shows these accessibility features for iPhone:
- Larger Text — Stoa uses the text size you choose in your device's settings. Some Stoa screens currently limit how far text enlarges, so the result varies by screen (see Known limitations).
- Dark Interface — Stoa provides a Dark Mode option in its application settings.
We do not list other accessibility features for iPhone at this time. Our device review of these features across all common tasks for version 4.158.0 is in progress.
Supported features on iPad
Stoa's App Store listing shows these accessibility features for iPad:
- Larger Text — Stoa uses the text size you choose in your device's settings. Some Stoa screens currently limit how far text enlarges, so the result varies by screen (see Known limitations).
- Dark Interface — Stoa provides a Dark Mode option in its application settings.
We review iPad separately from iPhone, including different window sizes, orientations and keyboard input. We do not list other accessibility features for iPad at this time. Our iPad device review for version 4.158.0 is in progress.
Using these features
- Text size. Change the text size in your device's Settings app under Accessibility, then Display & Text Size, then Larger Text. Stoa follows that setting on most screens.
- Dark Mode. Open Settings inside Stoa and turn on Dark Mode.
Known limitations
- Text size. Some screens limit text enlargement to about one and a half times the default, including sign in, account settings, the practice-streak summary and download progress. Text on those screens will not grow to the largest accessibility sizes. We are working on this.
- Screen readers. Stoa includes names and states for many controls, but we have not completed our review of full journeys with VoiceOver, Voice Control or Switch Control, so we do not currently list them as supported.
- Motion and transparency. Stoa includes responses to the device's Reduce Motion and Reduce Transparency settings. Device testing of these behaviors is ongoing, including sheets presented while a screen reader is active, so we do not currently list Reduced Motion as supported.
- Color and contrast. We have not completed measurements for Sufficient Contrast or checks for Differentiate Without Color Alone, so we do not currently list them as supported.
- Audio content. We do not currently offer synchronized captions or Audio Descriptions. Written readings are available in Stoa, but they are not captions for every audio session, and no caption languages have been verified for this release.
